Our first trip on the Umpqua River.  18 miles up river between Scottsburg and Elkton.  A good day as fishing goes.  Two solid strikes and a dent in the bottom of the boat.  A reminder as to why I selected an aluminum boat.  The boat directly upriver landed a Chinook.

Below, and not far below, the calm looking water are HUGE rocks. Still impacted by the tide, the river dropped 5 feet while we were fishing.  The path that we took up river was not available on the trip back.  A few slow bumps on the way down, but no more dents.

A lot of boats are tied to the river bank.  Note the protective Geese over looking the boat.  Click on the picture to the right to find out what they are really protecting.
